The Satorum Family and Cat Kea

Dear Nellie, about one year ago we got with your great help our kitten Kea (you named her Tortie for the ad on www.moscowanimals.org; her foster family had named her Lucia).

Kea is now 1 year old (and three months) and is doing great. She weighs about 3 kg, but is lean and small. Her hair is so long! About 6-9 cm. She has a fantastic bushy tail and her mustaches are so long too, even too big for her little face. She is truly beautiful.

Kea is a little trouble maker and loves playing with any cat toy we buy or make for her, wrestles every day with Semola (our 8 kg and 8 year old very affectionate and gentle boy cat from Egypt), goes for walks (on a leash!) daily and loves bird watching. So far she only caught one bird (who was almost dead due to a malformation of its beak, anyway) and dozens of moths she finds in my cupboard and a few flies. A great hunter truly. She sleeps with my daughter Julia and with me and Semola when Julia is sleeping over at some friends house. She eats everything, but loves egg yolk, yogurt (the one with twarog) and spray cream. Julia taught her how to bring back the toy mouse after she throws it and, when she wants to go out, she gets her leash in her mouth and drops right at my feet.

I think she learnt a very good Italian too, as well as English and some Russian, as when we go on vacation she and Semola are guests of a Russian family, next door neighbours of our vet. We will stay in Moscow until the end of the school year next June. After that, it will be probably either Cairo (most likely) or London. Fall back position, if everything fails, it will be Italy. In the uncertainty I am having both cats blood tested (for UK), microchipped (for EU and UK)and immunised. That way we can take them wherever we go. I have not looked at Moscowanimals.com for some time, but I bet you are still collecting cats and caring for them. I wish you luck for all you do, a true blessing for both cats and their future families. We would like to thank you again for having brought Kea to us, just the perfect addition to our family and a continuing source of joy, love and laughter.
