Super Cat Tillie Deserves a Super Home! Tillie is a very unique ca. one-year-old cat who probably has more than the nine proverbial lives! When she was about four months old, she was rescued from a ninth-floor garbage chute where she'd been hanging on probably for many hours, if not all day! When Dr. Lena Gauss from Movet came home, she heard a kitten cry and got her husband to help her locate it. They finally found Tillie, hanging on with all her might; had she let go, she would not have survived the fall ... It took Lena and her husband four hours to rescue Tillie - it was a difficult "operation" since they had to make sure Tillie wouldn't fall in case she let go. Finally, in the wee hours of the morning, they succeeded and Lena put Tillie in a big cage outside her apartment with a note on it asking people not to touch the kitten and that she would take it to the clinic in the morning (everyone knows she's a vet; she couldn't take the kitten inside since she has a dog that hates cats). A few hours later, when Lena was leaving for work, she discovered that Tillie was gone. Someone had opened the cage and let her out. Lena was devastated and worried that it could have been the same person who originally tried to get rid of Tillie by putting her into the garbage chute (there is NO way that she could have gotten into the chute on her own). Tillie was gone for three days, and then Lena found her again and this time took her straight to the clinic from where she planned to re-home her. At about the same time, I had a small, lonely foster kitten (Millie, who has since been adopted; also via Movet), who was clearly missing a playmate (my own cats are all a bit older and don't play much anymore). So I called Lena and picked up Tillie. Even though Tillie, at that time, was a bit bigger than Millie, they immediately took to each other with Tillie taking over the mother role. They quickly became best friends! When Millie was adopted, I took in more foster kittens (all rescued from a large municipal shelter via Movet), and Tillie has taken care of them all! Tillie is very sweet and very intelligent - she was the first cat at my place to meet foster dog Oliver and taught him where he could and could not go (and Oli is a BIG boy :-). She also tends to intervene in the occasional cat fight or disagreement and lightly punishes whoever started the fight! Tillie is neutered, fully vaccinated, micro-chipped and has a cat passport. Tillie is a very sociable cat, but also quite independent! She would be happy in a home where she is allowed to do her own thing (when she wants), but where she might also be allowed to sleep in the bed and cuddle (she likes to sleep under the blanket!). She gets along very well with all of my cats and would probably get along with a dog (provided the dog doesn't go after her!).
